NYC IP Law and Philosophy Workshop (IP/LaP)

  • St. John's University School of Law - Manhattan Campus Astor Place New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

The St. John’s Intellectual Property Law Center invites requests to present at the New York City Intellectual Property Law and Philosophy Workshop (IP/LaP) at our Manhattan Campus (101 Astor Place) on Friday, April 17, 2026. IP/LaP is a day-long forum for scholars working on theoretical approaches to IP law, law and technology, and the regulation of creativity, expression, and knowledge to come together to discuss their projects at early- to middle-stages of development in a roundtable environment. St. John’s will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the day of the workshop; participants are responsible for their own travel expenses (though assistance with hotel reservations at preferred rates may be available depending on interest).

Interested scholars should submit an abstract or short summary of no more than 500 words via email to iplap@stjohnslawiplc.org. Abstracts are due by Friday, February 20. Invitations to participate will be sent by Friday, February 27. Discussion drafts (which may still be at an early stage) will be due April 3. Early-career scholars and scholars approaching legal questions from underrepresented theoretical perspectives are particularly welcome.

Questions may be directed to Professor Jeremy Sheff at sheffj@stjohns.edu.
